Every week we do Wednesday chapel in the morning. Our directors believe chapel to be the most important time of the week because it is the time we are able to focus on learning more about God. What is the most important thing, then, in God’s eyes? Is it obedience? Patience? Jesus stated the answer was Love. Consider this: In the English language there different types of love. Is loving food the same kind of love as loving God or a person? Clearly not. Enjoying the taste of food is a different from putting an individual first before your own needs.
The law can be summed up into two commands: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Matthew 22:37 – 40. Jesus considers love the most important thing, but that doesn’t mean love is easy. Love is to put someone else’s needs before your own. We should not only love those who loved us first or love us back, it also means to our enemies. Jesus loved even those who wanted him dead on the cross. What an example to follow!
From this day onward, Love is the theme of the school year. Remember this theme. Remember to love as you go about your day in class and at home.
